PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Foundation in Science Program is a preparatory program for SPM students with outstanding achievements to pursue undergraduate studies upon completion of the programme and subjected to meeting all entry requirements of higher learning institutions, locally and abroad, especially at UNISEL. It is divided into 2 streams namely Life Sciences and Physical Sciences. The duration for the programme is 1 year which consists of 3 long semesters (12 weeks each) and must complete 50 total credit hours and with minimum CGPA of 2.00.
The students of this program are given a comprehensive education to fulfill the structure of the program as well as aspects of soft skills through additional activities. Overall, all aspects of program development and management, student selection, evaluation of student and staff performance as well as facilities are well monitored by all responsible parties and with two major discipline, life and physical science offer best learning experience through formative assessments and learning methods comprise of the lectures, tutorials, and laboratory practical sessions, problem based learning and mini project combined with summative assessments. The privilege of students in this program who are given scholarships helps the students to continue their studies.

A Foundation in Science program can open up various career prospects and academic pathways for individuals, however many students use a foundation in science as a stepping stone to pursue a bachelor’s degree in a specific scientific field such as physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, computer science, environmental science, etc. Some students may choose to enter professional programs like engineering, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, or veterinary science after completing their foundation in science.
