Programme Description
The Master of Science (Biotechnology) is a research-based program, offered in both full-time and part-time modes, designed to provide students with advanced expertise in biotechnology through immersive, research-driven learning. The program focuses on key areas such as molecular biology, bioinformatics, bioprocessing, environmental and sustainable biotechnological applications, equipping students with the skills to conduct groundbreaking research and excel in impactful careers across academia, research institutions, and industry. Guided by experienced supervisors and supported by modern laboratory facilities, the program is meticulously designed to meet the professional and academic aspirations of future researchers. It emphasizes critical thinking, technical expertise, and innovative problem-solving skills to address global challenges.
- Provide advance and in-depth knowledge in biotechnology to contribute to the development of processes, products, technologies and services.
- Exhibit ability to pursue lifelong learning and adapt effectively, professionally and ethically in global biotechnology field.
- Ability to work independently and systematically to comprehend a project, design and conduct research as well as analyse and communicate the outcomes effectively.
- Demonstrate leadership qualities through effective collaboration with peers and stakeholders in the biotechnology industry and research.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Science from Universiti Selangor or any other Institution of Higher Learning recognized by the University Senate, with a CGPA of 2.75 or above; OR
- Any other equivalent qualification recognized by the University Senate, with a CGPA of 2.75 or above; OR
- A candidate with a CGPA of below 2.75 but above 2.0, or does not possess a degree in science may be enrolled in the Programme subject to rigorous internal assessment process.

- Demonstrate specialised knowledge and understanding of concepts and global perspectives in biotechnology domain.
- Analyse and integrate current biotechnology information independently from relevant sources to provide solutions for biotechnology industry and research.
- Plan and conduct specialise research methodologies as well as analyse and interpret reliable and valid data using biotechnology tools.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills with peers and other relevant communities as well as publish in a journal or present a conference paper.
- Compute, analyse, interpret, and present data from research findings using various information, media, and technological applications.
- Establish independence, leadership, and interpersonal skills in managerial or supervisory roles in laboratories and related industries.
- Engage in lifelong learning, professional pathways, and entrepreneurship.
- Recognise and adherence to biosafety, ethical, commercial, and social issues related to biotechnology.
