BACHELOR OF COMMUNICATION (HONOURS) (JOURNALISM)

The programme aims to create well-rounded journalists with professional ethics and social skills that are of value to future employers, particularly in the area of media, communication, diplomacy, public relations and publicity. The course provides students with a framework for understanding journalism in a social platform. Key research, communication and media-handling skills are taught to enable students to handle the challenging world of journalism and the media industry.

Entry Requirement

- Passed Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) or equivalent with minimum C Grade (NGMP 2.00) in any TWO subjects and credit in English in SPM or its equivalent; OR

- Passed Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) with at least Jayyid grade and credit in English in SPM or its equivalent; OR

- Diploma or its equivalent with at least CGPA of 2.00 and credit in English in SPM or its equivalent; OR

- Diploma in Communication and Media or its equivalent; OR

- Passed Matriculation/Asasi programme or its equivalent with at least CGPA of 2.00 and credit in English in SPM or its equivalent. Passed UEC with a minimum B Grade in five subjects including English.

- Other equivalent qualifications that are recognised.

- For international students: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a score of 500 or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with 5.0 or its equivalent is required.

Note:

- The condition of credit for SPM English for candidates (1), (2), (3) and (5) can be excluded if the qualification contains an English subject and its achievement is equivalent to / more than the credit for English SPM.
