“It is a profound honour to serve as President of UNISEL, a university that reflects the aspirations of Selangor—the nation’s economic leader and a model of Madani harmony. My vision is to see UNISEL become world-class, driving the TVET agenda through strong industry linkages, and advancing the humanities in partnership with the state’s institutions. Together, we will make UNISEL a source of pride for Selangor and Malaysia.”
Professor Emeritus Ir. Dato’ Dr. Hassan Basri President & Vice Chancellor Universiti Selangor (UNISEL)
It is with gratitude and humility that I accept the honour of serving as President and Vice Chancellor of Universiti Selangor (UNISEL). I wish to extend my deepest thanks to the Honourable Chief Minister of Selangor, Dato’ Seri Amiruddin Shari, and the state leadership for placing their trust in me. This trust carries special meaning, as UNISEL represents not only the vision of our leaders, but also the aspirations of the people of Selangor—the most populous and economically dynamic state in Malaysia.
Selangor’s position as the nation’s economic powerhouse—with a record GDP of RM432 billion in 2024, contributing 26% of Malaysia’s total—together with its harmonious, multiracial society, reflects the strength of the Madani ideals in practice. UNISEL is strategically placed to provide the knowledge and intellectual foundation to sustain and advance this success.
Our vision is to be a world-class university, one that matches the developed status of Selangor. We will drive forward the TVET agenda, building effective synergies between our academic strengths and the state’s extensive industrial and commercial ecosystem. In the humanities and social sciences, we will deepen collaboration with state-linked organisations dedicated to nurturing a truly Madani society.
I look forward to working with our dedicated staff, students, partners, and stakeholders to ensure UNISEL fulfils its mission and stands as a source of pride for Selangor and Malaysia.
