OVERVIEW

This research postgraduate programme aims to provide graduates with in-depth knowledge in one of the following areas of educational research, namely pedagogy, curriculum, online education, early childhood learning, primary education, secondary education, higher education, Malay education, Islamic religious education, English education, Arabic education, history of education, special education, sociology of education, educational technology, vocational education, educational leadership, educational philosophy, the psychology of education, parenting education, and distance education with clear directions and paths for acquiring, generating, enhancing, honing knowledge and skills while making cross-connections with other disciplines such as humanities, social sciences, and physical sciences. The programme also requires the writing of the dissertation as prescribed by MQA.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 or its equivalent, as accepted by the Senate PPT; or
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a minimum CGPA 2.50 and does not reach CGPA of 2.75, may be accepted depending on thorough internal assessment through interviews conducted by the Faculty; or
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent but not CGPA of 2.50, admissible subject to a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Non-education students are required to show high interest in the field of education.
  • International Students required to achieve the score minimum of IELTS 5.0 or equivalent.
TUITION FEES
  • Local tuition fee: RM10, 200**
  • International tuition fee: RM20, 400**
STUDENT OUTCOMES

At the end of this Master’s programme, students will be able to:

  • Apply knowledge of current research in specific educational research areas.
  • Identify research techniques for acquiring, interpreting, and expanding educational knowledge in specific educational research areas.
  • Design and carry out professional and ethical research.
  • Demonstrate the ability to come up with ideas, critical thinking skills, and rational conclusions among peers, experts, and non-experts in at least one international language.
  • Develop the ability to communicate, lead, and collaborate in building new knowledge.
  • Use appropriate digital technology to integrate numerical and graphical or visual data to support research findings.
  • Use appropriate software to improve the quality of research, especially in the processing of quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Demonstrate leadership, independence, and autonomy and responsibility in the classroom and the group.
  • Emphasize self-development through continuous academic progress and initiate entrepreneurial project development.
  • Demonstrate adherence to legal, ethical, and professional decision making.
